Draught marks to carpet edges

These are a build up of dust that penetrates through the gap between the floorboards and skirting boards. Once established they are virtually impossible to remove and very visible on white or cream carpets. They do seem to disappear when you have your carpets cleaned, but once the carpets are dry they do usually re-appear. The best way to prevent this from happening is when you have new carpets and to lay heavy duty polythene under the carpet edges and up the skirting board. Once the carpets are laid and fitted to the gripper rod the polythene can then be neatly trimmed by the carpet fitter.
